Fire Retardant – Thermo Gel and Phos Chek Foam

Structures and vegetation can be protected better with the following products:

Thermo Gel is the most effective method of
protecting your structure prior to evacuation.

This fire blocking and heat absorbing gel adheres to any kind of surface, even to vertical windowpanes and forms a protective layer of gel that cools and protects objects from heating, charring and flame impingement. Gel mixes with water using a Fire Pump and the 15 GPM Sprayer, or a garden hose with a 3 GPM Sprayer. Benefits of using your Fire Pump are faster application and not being dependent on local water system.

Thermo Gel remains effective in fire blocking and heat absorbing for approximately 6 to 9 hours in wildfire conditions. If the fire does not approach the property within 4-6 hours of spraying, it can be re-hydrated by misting with clear water to extend its effectiveness.

By using the Fire Pump Package with Thermo Gel, you can cover your home with a flame-resistant glue-like “blanket” that will protect your home from wind-blown embers and fire, enabling you to evacuate with confidence your home will be protected.  The Gel is mixed with water under high pressure and forms a heat and fire shield over the house lasting 6 to 9 hours in wildfire conditions.  The gel’s effectiveness can be extended for days by misting it with water if the fire threat and your evacuation is delayed.  State of California’s fire protection agency CalFire – has selected Thermo Gel as a primary tool and carries it on brush trucks in California.  This is the most effective way to protect your home and evacuate safely.

Thermo Gel is only sprayed on combustible materials, windows (to prevent breakage) and aluminum siding/doors (to prevent melting) – not stucco, brick, or tile roofs.

Phos-Chek Foam Sprayers and Concentrate

Foam makes water more effective for suppressing vegetation fires by significantly reducing water’s surface tension and, when mixed with air, creates a foam blanket that surrounds fuels with a thick layer of water. This creates a barrier between the fuel and the fire, knocking down the fire faster than water alone. Foam mixes with water using your Fire Pump and Foam Sprayer to create the foam blanket.

In wildfire conditions, Foam remains effective at stopping/slowing fire for approximately 15 minutes.

Foam is used in suppressing an immediate fire on the property.
